We collect as little as we can to run the hall. We do not sell personal data and we do not run advertising trackers.
If you are visiting
- A random visitor id and your position in the hall. Used to show you to other visitors while you are here. Your position is held in memory only and is gone a few seconds after you leave.
- Your name and character. The made-up or chosen name over your head and how your character looks. Kept in your own browser and shown to other visitors while you are in the hall.
- Messages you send at a booth. Your name, email address and message are stored and passed to that exhibitor so they can reply. The exhibitor is responsible for how they use them.
- How busy the hall is, and where visitors come from. We count how many different visitors come each day, using your random visitor id, which site linked you here, and whether you are on a phone or a computer. If you start to build a booth, we also count how far you got: opening a free plot, typing a link, pressing build, and whether the build worked. These are totals and are not tied to who you are.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which parts of the hall they use: pages opened, booths built, videos played, and the general area you connect from. If you are in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland it runs without cookies. Elsewhere it sets a cookie that tells one browser from another. We have its advertising features switched off. Google acts as our processor for this. You can block it with Google's opt-out add-on or any tracker blocker, and the hall works just the same.
- Traffic figures for exhibitors. For each booth we count, by day, how many visitors walked up to it, opened it and went on to its website, how long visitors stayed there, and how long it was in view on visitors' screens. To count a person once a day we keep your random visitor id against the booth for up to three days, then delete it. Exhibitors see totals only. They never see your id, name, position or address.
- Your passport. The booths you have stamped are kept in your browser and, under a random id with your chosen name, on our server for the explorers' board.
If you rent a booth
- Your website's public content. We read the address you give us to build the booth: name, logo, images, colours and text.
- A contact email, if you give one, to forward visitors' messages and to help you get back into your booth.
- Payment details. Handled by Stripe. We receive your Stripe customer and subscription ids and the status of your subscription. We never see your card number.
For everyone
- Technical data. Our servers see your IP address and browser details when you connect. We use them to keep the service running and to limit abuse, and keep them only briefly in logs.
- Your browser's storage. We store your name, character, settings and any booth keys in your own browser. We do not use advertising cookies.
Who helps us run Showfloor
Fly.io hosts our servers and database. Stripe processes payments. If email is switched on, Resend delivers our emails. Google Fonts serves the typeface, and Google Analytics measures visits. They process data only to provide those services.
How long we keep things
Booths and the messages sent to them are kept while the booth exists and are deleted when it is removed. Payment records are kept by Stripe as the law requires.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@showfloor.lol. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
