An expo hall that never closes

Showfloor is an online trade show. Visitors walk a 3D hall in their browser, stop at any booth, and message the company behind it. Companies rent a booth by the month, the way they would rent floor space at a real expo.

What we sell

One thing: booth space in the hall, as a monthly subscription. A booth is a company's stand on the floor. It carries their name, logo, colours and tagline, a contact form that sends visitors' messages to them, and a public page of its own that works on any device. You choose which of your site's images appear as the logo and on the booth's screen. You can add a showcase: cards that send visitors to the pages you pick on your own site, such as a product or your pricing (two on a starter booth, four on a standard booth, six on an island), and one YouTube or Vimeo video that plays inside the booth. Visitors can click any booth to open it.

To get one, walk to a free plot, paste your website address, and the booth builds itself from your site in about half a minute. You see it before you pay. Until you pay, only you can see it: no other visitor sees your name, logo or colours, and the plot is held for you for a few minutes, then released. When you claim it, it goes public straight away, marked as not verified yet. You then prove the website is yours (a code in your DNS, a small file, or a tag in your page), which removes that mark and is needed before paying. Well-known names, and names that look like them, must prove ownership before going public at all. If someone puts up a booth for a site that is yours, prove the site is yours from that booth and it becomes yours.

Free trial

Claim any free plot for a 7 day free trial. First come, first served, and no card is needed: we ask only for an email address so we can reach you about your booth. Your 7 days start when you claim. One free trial per website, and you still prove the website is yours before the booth goes public. When your trial ends, you choose: pay the monthly price below and keep your plot, or let it go. If you do neither within 3 days of payments being open to you, the booth comes down and the plot is released. Nothing is ever charged unless you choose to pay.

What you learn about your visitors

Every paid booth comes with its own traffic figures, at no extra cost. You open them from your booth's panel, for the last 7 or 30 days, with a chart by day and a download as a spreadsheet file (CSV).

• Walked up. How many people stepped into your booth's area. Each person counts once a day.
• Opened the booth. How many pressed F or clicked the booth to read about you.
• Went to your site. Every booth can be clicked, and the main button inside it goes to your website. We count the people who press it, and show that as a share of the people who walked up. Each showcase card has its own count, so you can see which page visitors want.
• Messages. How many people wrote to you from the booth. The messages themselves are in your inbox.
• Average stay. How long a person spent at your booth.
• Time on screen. How long your booth was in view on visitors' screens, large enough to read. This is the hall's version of people walking past and seeing your stand.

The figures count people, not page loads. You and anyone using your owner link are left out, and so are the background characters who walk the aisles. We do not tell you who a visitor is: you see totals only, unless a visitor chooses to message you.

Prices

Like a real expo, the price depends on the size of the booth and where it stands. Plots nearer the entrance and the main aisle cost more. Available plots are marked on the floor and on the floor plan. Walk up to one and open it to see its exact price. Prices are in US dollars, per month.

These are founding exhibitor prices. Your price stays the same for as long as you keep the booth.

Extras. Flags, balloons, plants and a floor logo are included. Special extras are optional and cost a little more each month: display items $1 each, furniture items $1 each, lighting items $2 each, signs items $2 each. Bigger booths can take more extras.

Paying, cancelling and refunds

• Payment is by card through Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• Your subscription renews every month until you cancel. Stripe emails a receipt and an invoice for every payment.
• You can cancel at any time from the Billing link in your booth's panel. The booth stays up until the end of the month you have paid for, then comes off the floor. There is no cancellation fee.
• We do not refund part-used months. If we take your booth down for a reason that is not a breach of our terms, or the hall is unavailable for a long stretch, we refund the unused part of the month.
• If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it still fails, the booth comes off the floor and the plot is held for you for seven days.

Who can exhibit

Ordinary businesses, products, creators and open-source projects. We do not accept adult content, hate, scams, illegal goods, or anyone pretending to be a brand they do not own. Booth text is screened, and visitors can report a booth. The full rules are in the terms.
